URBAN OASIS

CHALLENGE: Create an experience that captured the attention of a younger target audience - who were, at the time, a little oblivious to the Clarins range and story.

IDEA: We turned the face into a canvas. Using light as our paint, we projected 3D texture animations (which reacted to movement in real-time) directly onto the skin. This created a unique ‘Live CGI’ effect that had never been achieved in an experience before, making it a true world-first and a triumph in Creative Technology.

ROLE: Concepts & Copy.

AWARDS: Winner of 2 Golds at the IPM Awards 2017 for Best Experiential Activation and Best Consumer Product, plus a Silver for Use of Innovation and Bronze for Creative Execution.

SMOKE & MIRRORS

There was a lot going on behind closed doors: a combination of infra-red depth sensors, custom calibrated projectors, ultrasonic audio and adaptive face-tracking. But the real achievement was ensuring that every guest who entered the projection pod was blissfully unaware of the wizardry happening behind the curtain. And it was this seamless execution that allowed them to sit back and relax - as shooting stars and golden poppies came to life across their face, as if by magic.

THE TECH BEHIND THE TALE

Clarins have an ingredient story like no other skincare brand - seeking out only the most natural ingredients from the Madagascan rainforest to create each skin-nourishing cream and serum. This rich story was a gift to transform into an animated tale, with 3D graphics of everything from delicate rain drops to vibrant hibiscus petals opening directly across the eye. Here’s a snapshot of the tech behind the tale.
